Uncoupling membrane Ditra Schluter
Uncoupling membrane Ditra Schluter
The Schluter-Ditra membrane is a polyethylene uncoupling membrane with intersecting ribs cut into a dovetail and coated on the bottom of a nonwoven felt. The open cavities of the Ditra membrane allow for horizontal movements and provide a separation. This effectively neutralizes the stress of differential movement between the substrate and the ceramic tile, thus eliminating the main cause of cracks and delamination of the tiles. Ditra is used in conjunction with tile coverings to provide separation, waterproofing, vapor control, load support and distribution functions. These four essential functions guarantee a quality and durable installation on various substrates, such as plywood, OSB, concrete, radiant floors, etc. The diaphragm is 1/8" thick, which minimizes the overall thickness of the tile installation and reduces the height of the tile-to-adjacent tile transition. Ditra allows for a single-layer ceramic installation of plywood or OSB in builds where the spacing between joints is less than 19.2" (488m).
