Quantity of ceramic tiles or stone needed

Before starting your project, make sure you know the quantity of material you will need. Here's how to calculate it:

  1. Determine the area to be covered in square feet.
  2. Add about 10% to cover wastage.
  3. Multiply this number by the price per square foot, adding installation costs, if any.
  4. Check how the material you wish to install is sold. Some products are sold only by the box.
  5. Have your calculations checked by an expert before ordering. This first step just helps you establish a budget.

Care and maintenance of ceramic and porcelain tiles

Brooms and vacuum cleaners can both be used to maintain this type of floor covering. Wash ceramic or natural stone tiles with mild soap and water. For ceramic tiles, a mixture of water and vinegar can also be used. Avoid abrasives: they can damage the finish.

Test all cleaning products on a small area before use.

Apply a grout sealant thirty days after installation (this step is optional).

Read the instructions before using cleaning products.

Don’t use hydrochloric acid.

Don’t use steel wool.

Don’t use petroleum- or animal fat-based detergents.

Don’t wax ceramic tiles.

Glazed ceramic floor coverings
Sweep, vacuum, or damp mop with clean water
If you must use a cleaning product, use a no-rinse ceramic floor cleaner (available from our cleaning products counter).

Unglazed ceramic or natural stone
Apply a sealant on mBonet unglazed ceramic and natural stone tiles before installation. Other than that, maintenance of these tiles is the same as for glazed ceramic floor tiles.

Glazed ceramic walls
Ceramic walls may be cleaned with glass cleaner or mild household cleaners, but it is important to rinse well after cleaning. Daily care generally consists of no more than a quick wipe with a damp sponge or cloth.
Ceramic shower tiles require more regular care to remove soap scum and hard water depBoneits. It is usually enough to spray an all-purpBonee cleanser on the tiles, wait three to five minutes, then rinse. A solution of water and white vinegar should remove hard water stains.
For deeper cleaning, use a specialized cleaner available at our cleaning products counter.
Shower mold and mildew can be removed with a commercial mold remover, bleach, or ammonia. Never use these together. Rinse thoroughly and wipe with a clean cloth.
